Hamlet

by William Shakespeare

2nd - 17th August 2019

  • Arguably Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, Hamlet follows the internal machinations of the royal family of Denmark. Hamlet becomes obsessed with revenge for the murder of his father, after his father’s ghost burdens him with releasing him from hell by exposing the murder.

Hamlet pretends to be mad in order to throw the entire court into turmoil and in the process destroys the lives of those around him and descends into his own madness. This sumptuous production evokes a royal court attempting to hide its decay behind a skin of imperial splendour, but Denmark is rotten to the core and few will escape.
