Wuthering Heights

An Adaption By Steen Steen & Erifilli Davis Based On The Novel By Emily Bronte

16th - 26th October 2013

  • Emily Brontë’s book, published in 1847, received mixed reviews when it was first published and was considered controversial because its depiction of mental and physical cruelty was so unusually stark.

Wuthering Heights is a classic of English literature that follows the futures of Heathcliff and Catherine and their children. It is a story of passion, love, cruelty, betrayal and revenge. Nature versus culture is an important theme in the book.

The story begins in 1801 with Lockwood seeking shelter at the dark and brooding Wuthering Heights during a snowstorm. After a child called Catherine visits him in a vivid dream, we are then taken back to 1771 as the housekeeper Nelly narrates the story of the strange inhabitants of Wuthering Heights.
